Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen Facilitator: Kate Barry
Lorna Boschman is a media artist who shares unique perspectives from within social justice struggles. From her earliest documentary Scars (1986), through collaborations with Vancouver artists Kiss & Tell (1992-2002), the self-advocate community (2000, 2006), and digital storytelling mentorship supporting a lesbian living with metastatic cancer in just being (2015), Lorna’s provocative experimental documentary filmmaking has illuminated numerous hidden stories beneath visible layers.
She designed a digital storytelling workshop for Cancer’s Margins and founded Digital Stories Canada in 2018. She was the Vancouver Mayor’s 2016 Arts Award honouree for Film & New Media and chose Sebnem Ozpeta as the 2016 Emerging Artist for Film & New Media.
Sebnem Ozpeta is a Vancouver-based visual artist, video editor, and videographer. She studied graphic design in Turkey, where she was born and raised.
